The story behind our name “Dignitea”
Our company was founded in September 2022 as Dignité, the French word for “Dignity”. The consultancy had a vision to build organisations where every employee is treated fairly, and to bring equitable dignity to marginalised groups in society. The company worked on inclusive corporate cultures and marketing. It was renamed to Dignitea in July 2025 when the company refined its services to focus on management consulting services for building inclusive workplaces.
Dignitea combines the words “Dignity” and “Tea”. While inclusive culture transformation is a multi-stage, organisation-wide undertaking, oftentimes, inclusion begins with small actions, such as having tea with another to enrich perspectives. Tea has been a medium for the building of relationships in Asian cultures – in India, guests are always served Chai, as a mark of respect, kindness and hospitality; for the Chinese, offering tea is also a sign of respect and gratitude towards elders, particularly during weddings. Offering tea may form part of a formal apology; in Japan, the tea ceremony embodies values of harmony, humility and respect.
